लोक सभा, जितनी जल्दी हो सके, सदन के दो सदस्यों को क्रमशः अध्यक्ष और उपाध्यक्ष के रूप में चुनेगी और, जितनी बार अध्यक्ष या उपाध्यक्ष का पद खाली हो जाता है, सदन किसी अन्य सदस्य को चुनने के लिए चुनेगा अध्यक्ष या उपाध्यक्ष, जैसा भी मामला हो।
